We are excited to announce our winner and runner-up for the Rename the Coffee Contest!  Below are the winners along with their entries.

Red Squirrel
The bright, sassy hazelnut junkie the color of cinnamon.  Red Squirrel is now a rare treat.  The cozy warmth and snap of cinnamon, the richness of hazelnut evokes the hearthside comforts of a more innocent world.  Perhaps the most famous of the Red Squirrel clan, Chatterer, lived in the fantasy world of Beatrix Potter.  On this side of the Atlantic, Red Squirrel reminds us of the lavish native American hazelnut trees, edging the dense, pristine old growth deciduous forests, ruled by massive long-lived oak trees.  Those nuts and acorns sustained wildlife like Red Squirrel, who by forgetting where exactly that winter cache had been squirreled away, helped ensure that new saplings would spring up over time.  Some of our great-grandparents as children watched Red Squirrel with amusement, marveling at Red Squirrel's energy and quickness.

Rename the Coffee Contest

Calling all creative, coffee lovers!

We are renaming one of our classic flavored coffees, and we want your help!

Current Name: Cinnamon Hazelnut
Current Description: A wonderful combination of rich hazelnuts and spicy cinnamon.

Contest Details (Ended 10-31-10)

  1. To participate, contact us with your name and address (phone number optional), and we will send you a sample of our Cinnamon Hazelnut coffee to get you started.
  2. Grab a pen and paper, brew a pot of the coffee, and take notes on the aromas while the coffee brews.
  3. Pour a cup of the freshly-brewed coffee, and take notes on the flavors as you sip.
    Tip: If you usually use cream and sugar, try a sip or two before you add them in.  Take a couple notes on the coffee “black” and then take notes after mixing in your cream* and sugar. 
    *We recommend that you do not use a flavored creamer, as it will mask the flavor of the coffee.
  4. Once you have a few good notes on the flavors and aromas, start thinking of a name and description for the coffee.  We’re looking for a fun, creative name (think “Jamaican Me Crazy” and “Mom’s Apple Pie”) and description to get other coffee lovers excited about this coffee.
  5. Email us again once you've come up with your final name and description.  We will only accept ONE entry, so write, rewrite, and submit your best!

Contest ends on October 31st, 2010 and we will not accept any entries past the deadline.  On Monday November 1st, we will select our favorite entry and declare a winner.

Winner will receive a bag of the newly named coffee along with a 75th Anniversary Paramount Coffee Corn Mug. Winner will also have their name included with the new coffee name and description online (example: “Sent in by ‘Rename The Coffee Contest’ winner John Smith from Lansing, Michigan”). We will also select a 2nd place runner-up to receive a bag of the newly named coffee.
